WHAT ARE YOUR SHIPPING RATES?We try to keep things simple with flat rate shipping based on the size of your order. All orders of $150 or more ship free via ground in the USA. For a complete list of shipping options and fees please refer to our "Shipping Rates" section. This can be found right next to the Shopping Cart near the top of our home page. DO YOU CHARGE HANDLING OR RESTOCKING CHARGES?No. We try to keep our shipping rates fair and reasonable without adding any hidden fees. WHAT SHIPPING CARRIERS DO YOU USE?We ship most orders via the United States Post Office, but we also use UPS and FedEx, especially for heavier packages. WHAT SHIPPING METHODS DO YOU USE?We prefer to ship via ground carriers since they consume dramatically fewer resources than air transport, however, if you are in a hurry we can ship air. You will have your choice of shipping methods during checkout in our store. DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?Yes we do, to most countries. Be advised, however, that we have no control over the duty assessed by other countries and will not be responsible for any local fees or charges associated with importing our products. WILL YOU MARK ITEMS AS A GIFT OR SOMETHING SIMILAR ON INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS TO AVOID CUSTOMS DUTIES?No, we honor the laws and taxing authority of other countries and will not do anything that might violate local regulations. WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS AN ERROR ON YOUR WEBSITE CONCERNING AN ITEM?While we strive for perfection, mistakes sometimes happen. Descriptive, typographic, or photographic errors are subject to correction. We reserve the right to limit quantities ordered when an error is involved. WHAT TYPE OF PACKAGING MATERIALS DO YOU USE?We try to ship as environmentally friendly as we can, avoiding Styrofoam, plastic tape, and any other material that has a negative impact on Planet Earth whenever we can. We recycle almost all the packaging materials we receive from our suppliers so it is not uncommon for you to get your order in a box that has been used more than once. Since so many of our shipments end up in marinas, or near the water, we want to avoid having our packing materials permanently foul our waterways. WHERE ARE YOU?We are headquartered in the United States in Spokane, Washington. DO YOU OPERATE ANY RETAIL STORES I CAN VISIT?No. To offer the prices and selection we carry we have established greenboatstuff as an online store only, operating out of several warehouses and distribution centers. DO YOU USE DROP SHIPPERS?On occasion, but we prefer to ship from our warehouses so we can control the transaction without having to rely on a third party. DO YOU PRINT A PAPER CATALOG?No. We wouldn't want to waste all that paper when it is so easy to access everything we carry online. We are also constantly adding new products to our store so a paper catalog would be out of date by the time we mailed it. DO YOU SELL OR EXCHANGE CUSTOMER INFORMATION?Never. We do offer an email update service for customers wanting to be alerted to sales and new products, however, we control this list and will never share your email. WHAT IS GREEN AMERICA?Green America, formerly named Co-Op America, is a group of like-minded businesses committed to offering environmentally friendly products and services. Members undergo a rigorous screening process designed to separate legitimate green businesses from those posing as such. Green America publishes the annual "Green Pages" nation-wide directory available to consumers. DO YOU CHARGE SALES TAX?Only to residents of Washington State. WHAT DOES "BIODEGRADABLE" AND "ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY" REALLY MEAN?Unfortunately, not much under the law. Current regulations do not define either term legally so many companies just slap the words on their label and hope consumers won't ask any questions. Given enough time even an oil spill will biodegrade, but does that mean you should dump oil over the side? Of course not. At greenboatstuff most of the products we carry are made from all natural and in many cases certified organic ingredients that biodegrade rapidly without poisoning the environment. WHAT DOES ORGANIC MEAN?Thanks to ever-increasing pressure from eco-conscious consumers use of the word "Organic" does have some teeth to it, but again, be careful. Organic fabric and clothing has been made from plant or animal material that is chemical and pesticide free. Organic foods, oils and other agricultural products are grown under similar natural conditions. The reasons to buy organic are many, but essentially, you are purchasing products that will not leach synthetic toxins into your body, while at the same time you are supporting production methods that eliminate the use of dangerous substances that might end up in our soil, water, and air. |
